Journey in Faith - RCIA

This group is for women and men who wish to enquire about the Catholic Church or want to become Catholics, and for those who are already Catholics but want to deepen their faith. "Journey in Faith" meets as advertised in the Newsletter. Administrator: John Greenrod.

Justice and Peace

The group meets on the first Tuesday of each month at St Peter's with members from both St Peter's and Good Shepherd and also from other Christian Churches. Anyone can join the group. People are encouraged to come to any meeting just to see what goes on - with no commitment to join.

The group's programme is planned to include Third World problems, human rights issues, national issues of social justice and questions related to international peace. The object is to act - not just to talk - and to offer parishioners ways in which they can share their resources with less disadvantaged people and contribute in other practical ways to greater justice in the world. Chair: Marie Quarman.

11 Up Youth Group

The group meets in St. Peter’s Hall on Mondays during term time 7.00 p.m. - 8.30 p.m. They focus on the eleven to fourteen age range. The programme for the current term is usually displayed on the St. Peter’s Church notice board. Youth leader: Erika Dyke.

Lay Ministries

The Parish welcomes and encourages boys and girls aged nine and above to join the team of servers at both our churches. Contact: Deacon Cyril.

Many of our parishioners serve the community as Readers and Special Ministers of the Eucharist. These ministries are undertaken on a rota basis. There is a co-ordinator for each team.

Music Groups

The Music Group plays at the 10.30 Mass on the second Sunday of each month. Contact: Bob Piggott.

The Choir leads the singing of more traditional hymns, Mass parts and psalms on the fourth Sunday of each month, and at major feasts and special Masses. Practices are held on the third Sunday at 11.45 a.m. (after 10.30 Mass), and on the fourth Tuesday at 8.00 p.m. We welcome new members - no previous experience required, and no audition! Contact: Mary Hannant or Erika Dyke

Other Parish Helpers

Apart from the above, a large number of people are generous with their time and skills in the service of our Parish and the wider community. These include: Church cleaners, flower arrangers, money counters, gardeners, office helpers and many others.
