Save the Date : Anniversary Mass as St Peter’s (Ruby Jubilee) 3rd November.
We had an excellent start to our Anniversary fundraising at the 70s / 80s event at St Peters on Saturday 20th April. The hall was filled to capacity and the evening was sold out. Many thanks to all those involved.
One of the key elements of the 40th Anniversary Year is to raise funds to repair two churches in Ghana in Fr Joe’s parish. One of the churches in Ghana has no solid roof and another has no walls. We’ll soon be putting up a display of the two churches.
Fr Joe is a welcome visitor, and he will be able to come to our parish in early summer. He has now been granted a visa to visit. He has been asked to provide an estimate of the cost of the repairs to the two churches, and that will give us a helpful figure as a target. In the meantime, we have set an amount of £1500 as a provisional target.
Fr Geoffrey has made several visits to Ghana and kept a diary. He has also agreed to publish parts of his diary and sell them to raise funds.
At the same time, we also promise not forget to support our local charities and local needs.
More information to come on other plans – but if parishioners have other suggestions and ideas, please share them with Father Geoffrey, perhaps over coffee after Mass.
