Children’s Liturgy Group

At St Peter’s we very much welcome children of the parish. As Jesus said [Let] “little children come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.”

We have a children’s liturgy during the 10:30 Sunday mass at St Peter’s where Father invites all the children (and the parents if they so wish) to the church hall where an adult leader talks about the day’s gospel and explains it in a very child friendly way.

The leader encourages the children to ask questions about the scripture or anything else they might want to know in a relaxed group discussion. During the session there are craft activities to bring the gospel to life and then we all return to the church and share them with father and the congregation.

All children of any age are invited, even babies and toddlers can come. They do not need to be of school age.

It is a chance for the children to get to know each other, so when they eventually make their Holy Communion, it will feel like friends coming together to share the sacrament.

As we lead up to Christmas, we also practise a few songs for the annual Carol service. At this event the children can dress up as any Nativity character and we perform the songs as a group at the service. Sometimes we have 3 Marys and 4 little donkeys on the Day!

We would love to see as many of you as possible and we are always looking for adult leaders to add to the rota (don’t worry, it’s not too onerous!).
